28456 Nominations Filed For Municipal Elections

The nomination process for the upcoming municipal elections has concluded. A total of 28,456 nominations were filed across seven municipal corporations and 116 municipalities. The final day saw a sharp rise in activity, with 19,180 nominations submitted on Friday. In comparison, 9,276 nominations were filed during the first two days.

Participation Across Political Parties

Major political parties such as Congress, BRS, and BJP accounted for a large share of the nominations. AAP and Telangana Rajyadhikara Party and BSP were among the parties which participated in the event. Political families in various areas participated in the election process. The elections attracted attention when married couples from some municipalities filed their nominations.

All parties will start their campaign activities on Saturday because the nomination process has reached its conclusion.

Notable Developments in Municipalities

In Mahabubabad Municipality, Tejaswini, daughter of former BRS MLA Shankar Naik, filed her nomination from Ward 20.

Chityal Municipality had Nagilla Sudhakar, who is also known as Kaveri, run for the election as a transgender candidate from Ward 1.

In Bhupalpally Municipality, two couples from the BRS party filed nominations:

  • Revula Rakesh (Ward 4) and his wife Revula Sravanthi (Ward 25)
  • Gandra Harish Reddy (Ward 29) and his wife Shobha (Ward 10)

In Nirmal Municipality, three couples filed nominations:

  • From BRS, Rajender (Ward 30) and his wife Madhavi (Ward 40)
  • From Congress, Appala Ganesh (Ward 37) and his wife Kavya (Ward 36)
  • From Congress, Tauheeduddin (Ward 39) and his wife Ayesha Kausar (Ward 29)

Incidents and Political Strategy

  • In Chandur Municipality of Nalgonda district, a person identified as B. Venu attempted suicide by consuming pesticide after not receiving a Congress ticket.
  • In Huzurabad, BJP nominations were filed by supporters linked to the groups of MP Etela Rajender and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay.
  • In Kothagudem Corporation, both Congress and CPI candidates filed nominations in most wards, as their alliance has not yet been finalized. The parties plan to withdraw nominations if an agreement is reached.

Campaigning Gains Momentum

Political parties have started their campaign activities after they completed the nomination process. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s tour schedule is nearly finalized. BRS and BJP leaders are currently developing their campaign plans. The elections serve as a crucial test for municipal ministers and MLAs who represent these areas, so they are intensifying their efforts at the community level.
