Andhra Pradesh Education System Aims To Become National Model

Chief Minister Confident in State Education

The Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, declared that the state's education system will be a model for the entire country in three years. He said Minister Lokesh has assured him about this goal. Naidu addressed the mega PTM at Bhamini Adarsh School in Palakonda constituency, Parvathipuram Manyam district.

Minister Commends Reforms, Student Participation

Minister Lokesh appreciated the officials for implementing reforms in education effectively. Students at Bhamini Adarsh School contributed actively during the meeting, he said. Lokesh said he wants to understand the needs of students and is committed to providing a strong foundation in all subjects.

Wings for Dreams Program

Minister Lokesh emphasized the following initiatives under the “Wings for Dreams” program:

  • Arranging conferences with students showing innovation and talent.
  • Inviting industrialists to support student initiatives.
  • Offering foreign education loans on flat interest rates.
  • Installation of solar panels in government schools to generate electricity.

Implementation of "Mustabu", the students' hygiene program, announced by Collector Prabhakar Reddy, in the Manyam district, covering all state schools.

Focus on Student Responsibility

Naidu told Minister Lokesh that it was his duty and responsibility to improve the educational standard of the students. He recalled having mentored Lokesh when he was not very good in certain subjects and added that after training and studying at Stanford University, Lokesh had become a minister. Such guidance should now be extended to all students, Naidu said.

Quality Education Without Pressure

The government has divided students into three categories: Sky, Mountain, and Steam. Students get tailored learning based on their performance through the clicker system. Naidu referred to blind student Karunakumari, who studied in a government school and played for the World Cup-winning women's blind cricket team of the country. He said that quality education should not be imposed; even short, focused study leads to excellence.

Teacher Support and Technology

The state also introduced the “Leap” app to enable parents to track student attendance and their progress while sitting at home. Schools offer nutritionally adequate meals and keep a low student-teacher ratio of 1 teacher for every 18 students in government schools and 1 for every 26 in private schools. Teachers are assigned to high-performing areas, and even their training is continued. Parents have been encouraged to enroll children in government schools.

Moral Education and No Bag Day

The government promotes moral education through guidance from Moral Values Advisor Chaganti Koteswara Rao. Students actively practice these values in school assemblies. Every Saturday, therefore, has been declared as a “No Bag Day” to reduce pressure and improve the quality of learning.

Respect and Professionalism in Teaching

  • He said the government is working to restore teachers' respect, which had declined in previous years. Now, teachers are focusing on the development of students instead of engaging in unrelated duties.
  • Future Plans The government has plans to establish an Aeronautical University in Visakhapatnam. Investments are also being made to develop Visakhapatnam as a data center hub, thereby generating employment opportunities for thousands of people.
