Andhra Pradesh Natural Farming Initiative Receives Food Planet Prize

The Andhra Pradesh Community-Based Natural Farming (APCNF) initiative has somehow been awarded the Food Planet Prize , which is among the world’s biggest environmental honors. This recognition really brings attention to the initiative’s work in promoting farming that is more sustainable and, at the same time, improving the everyday lives of farmers.  

International Recognition for APCNF  

The award was given in a ceremony held in Sweden. Alongside the honor, APCNF also received a cash prize of $1.5 million, roughly ₹14 crore , give or take depending how you view conversions. The Food Planet Prize itself tends to recognize projects that help build more steady food systems while also dealing with pressing environmental issues.  

Jury Highlights Environmental and Social Benefits  

Professor Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, who is a member of the Food Planet Prize jury, praised the Andhra Pradesh initiative for showing that natural farming can be carried out properly even on a wide scale. She said APCNF backs environmental protection and also helps farmers raise their own livelihoods. In her view, the initiative is kind of a practical example of how agriculture can keep productivity and sustainability walking together.  

Andhra Pradesh's Vision for Natural Farming  

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said he felt happy about getting this prestigious award. He called it a meaningful step for the state’s agriculture sector, and you know, a milestone that matters. The Chief Minister also reiterated the government’s resolve to expand natural farming practices across the state , steadily and without stopping too early.  

Goal of 100% Natural Farming by 2047  

The Andhra Pradesh government plans to shift all farming activities in the state to natural farming by 2047. This long term aim is meant to encourage sustainable agriculture, lower environmental harm, and strengthen the financial stability of farmers too.

The Food Planet Prize brings global attention to Andhra Pradesh natural farming and its potential to support both environmental sustainability and rural development. The recognition may encourage wider adoption of natural farming practices in India and other parts of the world.
