Andhra Pradesh is trying to shore up its role in India’s future energy, and industrial push. State Minister Nara Lokesh, recently said the government wants Andhra Pradesh to become a dependable global partner in the emerging nuclear economy . He said this while speaking at the “US Executive Nuclear Mission to India” conference that was held in New Delhi.
The event was jointly organized by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). The whole conference, really, was about collaboration between India and the United States in the nuclear energy space
In his address, Lokesh mentioned that India and the US have already built sturdy partnerships in technology, defense, semiconductors, and clean energy. He also pointed out that nuclear energy can be the next big field, where the two countries work together.
Lokesh said the worldwide nuclear industry is moving into a new chapter. Because of that shift, regions that have solid industrial strength and infrastructure depth might end up taking on a bigger share in upcoming energy projects.
He also added that India has multiple strengths that can help the sector grow over the long run. These strengths include engineering know how, manufacturing capacity and cost competitiveness.
From the Andhra Pradesh side, the government feels the state is already positioned to back large scale industrial and energy endeavors. Lokesh said the state has strong infrastructure , and solid ability to execute.
He explained that Andhra Pradesh offers several practical advantages for investors and industries. The state has a long coastline, major ports, industrial corridors, and transport connectivity. These features can support manufacturing and energy-related operations.
The minister also said the government is working to improve the “Speed of Doing Business.” Efforts are being made to simplify processes , and support faster project execution, in a sort of practical way.
According to Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh continues to expand its industrial and logistics network. New industrial corridors are under development across the state. At the same time, the government is improving electronics manufacturing capabilities.
Power infrastructure is also receiving attention. The state aims to build systems that can support both industrial growth and clean energy expansion , pretty steadily.
Strong transport and port infrastructure still remain key advantages for Andhra Pradesh. These facilities can help industries move equipment, materials and products more efficiently.
The state government is also increasing investment in renewable and clean energy sectors. Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh is encouraging projects related to renewable power generation, as well as energy storage.
Under the Integrated Clean Energy Policy, the state has set a target to attract investments worth nearly ₹10 lakh crore. These investments are expected across several areas, including :

Lokesh said Visakhapatnam is being developed as a center for artificial intelligence and data centers. Plans are in place to establish data centers with a combined capacity of 6 GW in the city.
The government also intends to build a manufacturing ecosystem around these facilities. This could create opportunities in technology services, infrastructure development, and industrial manufacturing.
Visakhapatnam’s port connectivity and industrial base are expected to support these expansion plans.
