Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to visit Tummalapenta village in Kavali Mandal on Tuesday. He will launch the “Matsyakara Sevalo” scheme, for fisherfolk, as part of the annual ban period. You know, that time when fishing activity is temporarily stopped in the sea, and the families feel the pinch.
Through this program, each eligible fisherfolk household will get a cash support of Rs. 20,000 via direct bank transfer. Across Andhra Pradesh, the government plans to release Rs. 261 crore to 130,796 beneficiaries. In the district, 11,644 people will receive benefits worth close to Rs. 28 crore.
The Chief Minister is expected to reach Praja Vedika in Tummalapenta at 10:10 AM. After that, he will take part in the “Matsyakara Sevalo” programme until 12:10 PM.
Then, at 12:45 PM, he will interact with fisherfolk community members. Later, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, he will attend a meeting with party cadres. Once the visit ends, Naidu will leave Tummalapenta at 3:15 PM and head to Chittoor district.
Officials have also made special arrangements, mainly because of high temperatures and the coastal weather around Tummalapenta. Organizers have reportedly arranged cool drinking water, buttermilk, and meals for those attending.
On Monday, Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, MLC Beeda Ravichandra, MLA Krishna Reddy, Collector Himanshu Shukla, and SP Ajitha inspected the venue, and checked the preparations in detail.
Authorities said approximately 1,200 security personnel will be deployed for the event. Alongside the regular police force, Marine Police teams have been kept on alert too, so the coastal area remains secured throughout.
