The appeal for financial aid in the development of his state has been made by the Chief Minister of the state of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, to the Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman. While he is in the national capital, he plans to hold meetings with the Union Ministers, namely CR Patil (Min Jal Shakti), Sarbananda Sonowal (Shipping), Manohar Lal Khattar (Urban Dev & Power), and Hardeep S Puri (Petroleum).
He spoke about the allocations in the context of the Purvodaya, SASKY, and the Polavaram & Nallamalasagar schemes to the Finance Minister. He said that the allocation of funds under the scheme of Purvodaya is an important and crucial step in improving connectivity, irrigation, and the creation of infrastructure and the industrial corridor and food processing hubs and creating an educational and healthcare infrastructure. He demanded a special allocation for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also stated the importance of a special assistance to states on a capital expenditure account. The Chief Minister stated that with a quicker disbursement of such funds, the creation of assets will take place. The state faces a serious crunch. The state requires finances in the form of roads, MSME parks, irrigation, housing, and medical facilities. The Chief Minister made a demand of Rs. 10,054 crores under SASC assistance.
The Polavaram-N. M Naidu has also demanded funding for the Polavaram-Nallamalasagar Link Project. The project involves lifting 200 TMC of Godavari flood water into the parched districts of Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and Nellore. The initial report of the project has been submitted to the Jal Shakti department. The DPR would be provided by the state government subsequently when approval has been received. Naidu has also demanded funding for the project in the budget of 2026-27.
