In the second phase of Gram Panchayat Sarpanch and ward member elections, Congress-backed candidates have maintained their good show. They have won over half of the total 4,333 seats, which reiterates their dominance in the state. In all the other districts, except Kumuram Bheem, Jangaon, and Nirmal, a majority of Congress-backed candidates have won.

Of these ‘others’, CPM-supported candidates won 33 seats and CPI-supported candidates won 28 seats.
In the first phase, a total of 2,425 seats were won by Congress-supported candidates, 1,168 by BRS, 189 by BJP, and 448 by others.
Although it was a cold day, people have not deterred from voting in large numbers. Voters started lining up from early morning. The voting percentage touched 85.86 percent. This is 1.58 percent higher than the last phase conducted on January 11, which recorded a voting percentage of 84.28 percent.

Yadadri Bhuvanagiri saw the highest polling percentage with 91.72 percent. The lowest percentage of polling is in Nizamabad with 76.71 percent. More than 80 percent polling was recorded in 29 constituencies.
Of the total 54,40,339 voters, 46,70,972 voters have exercised their right to vote. A higher percentage of women voters have participated in voting.
Voting remains peaceful in the state, with only a few minor incidents being reported. Elected representatives, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs took part in voting. Voting is being closely watched by authorities via webcasting.
The poll ended at 1 PM, and the counting of votes started at 2 PM. In most elections, the competition was very tight. A number of contestants won elections by a margin of one or two votes.
After declaration of results, elections of Deputy Sarpanches were conducted. Members of each ward gathered to elect a Deputy Sarpanch for their respective villages.
