Infosys will set up a permanent campus at Visakhapatnam. In-principle approval from the state government to allocate 20 acres of land in and around the Endada area has been received. Talks between executives and state officials are over. The final announcement will be made by the end of this month.
The talks regarding government incentives regarding the proposed campus are in the final stages. The proposals from Infosys regarding infrastructure support will be processed. Infosys has been functioning from a temporary site in IT Hills in Visakhapatnam.
Recently, Minister Lokesh posted a social media entry saying, "Visakhapatnam, get ready. World champions are coming this month.” The statement got a good response from people. Sources say that this statement came as a result of Infosys announcing their plans for a permanent campus in Visakhapatnam.
Some of the major technology firms that have invested in Visakhapatnam include the following: - Google has entered into an agreement to set up 1,000-megawatt data centers. The initial investment amount is ₹1.33 lakh crore. The foundation stone laying ceremony is expected to take place in March. - Reliance will invest ₹1 lakh crore to set up 1,000-megawatt data centers. - Sify has already started the construction of 500-megawatt data centers.
The temporary campus of TCS, located in the Millennium Towers, is nearing completion, and operations will commence shortly with a total of 1,200 seats. Cognizant has launched a temporary campus with 800 seats and has also laid the foundation stone for their permanent campus. Accenture has signed an agreement to establish a campus in Visakhapatnam. Land allocation is done, and the company will commence operations from their temporary campus shortly.
