The urge to confer the Bharat Ratna on Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) got clear, unanimous backing during the Telugu Desam Party’s Mahanadu event, in a sort of mixed enthusiasm. TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said, NTR’s work in public life, Telugu culture, and politics deserves a national sort of recognition, really not optional.
The resolution also seemed to show both political support, and that strong public mood among Telugu people wasn’t just a small thing. Leaders at the venue talked about NTR as someone who re-shaped regional politics and strengthened the self-respect of Telugu society, in ways that are hard to ignore, even now.
Still, you know, entertainment names like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Atlee, and the projects such as Don 3 often end up taking over national talk. But speakers at Mahanadu argued that NTR’s impact on cinema plus politics belongs to a much bigger historical scale, something else entirely.
Delegates at Mahanadu, passed a resolution unanimously asking the Central Government to award Bharat Ratna to NTR. Party leaders said this honor would serve as recognition of his exceptional service to Andhra Pradesh and to the country as a whole, not only on paper.
The resolution also mentioned how NTR influenced millions through both films and politics. They further added that his public welfare mindset, and administrative reforms, left a lasting imprint on governance, the kind you don’t just forget.
Many at the gathering treated the resolution as more than a political line. Supporters described it like a reflection of long-standing public demand, rather than just a sudden idea.
Chandrababu Naidu said every generation has a duty to preserve and promote NTR’s ideals. As per him, several welfare and social justice initiatives connected with the party still carry forward NTR’s vision, even if the times change, and people move on.
He referred to the announcement made by Nara Lokesh about 33 percent reservation for women within the party structure, and in a way yes it was kind of highlighted . Chandrababu explained that the call lines up with NTR’s dedication to empowerment and equal representation, as he put it.
He also described NTR as a leader who felt like Telugu pride itself. Naidu said NTR’s influence is still there, even decades after his political rise, and somehow it never really faded.
One of the core themes discussed at the event was NTR’s political thinking: “Society is the Temple, and the People are God.”
Party leaders said this idea shaped a lot of welfare-first schemes introduced during his time. They argued that the slogan actually describes a governance approach centered on public service, not only political clout.
Speakers also stressed that this philosophy still steers the party’s choices and policies today, in a continued way.
Political analysts think the Bharat Ratna demand remains alive because NTR’s influence still helps steer Andhra Pradesh politics. His welfare policies, his communication approach, and his regional priorities, they keep inspiring political leaders even now.
Supporters add that honoring NTR would also acknowledge the role regional leaders play in strengthening Indian democracy, not just national ones.
The Mahanadu resolution underlined that NTR’s contributions are recalled, not only by party workers but also by huge groups of the Telugu public. Leaders concluded that his legacy will stay relevant in both the cultural and political sphere, for years to come.
