The need for public cooperation to ensure the nation’s security has been reiterated by the likes of Indian President Droupadi Murmu. She noted that instead of working as mere spectators, people need to keep abreast of all that happens around them. This, she said, is the essence of “Jan Bhagidari” or people’s involvement.
President Murmu was speaking at a function organized by the Intelligence Bureau in Delhi on “People-Centric National Security & Community Participation in Building a Developed India.” She emphasized the importance of community participation in making a secure nation.
She stated that social media has altered the manner in which information is disseminated. “It’s quite hard to safeguard people against misinformation on social media platforms, for instance, and this is an important aspect in creating a community in which people access the right kind of information for the benefit of this country.”
