TVK chief Vijay spoke to the public for the first time after the Karur stampede incident. Today, he addressed the people in a public meeting in Puducherry.
Vijay said that Puducherry and Tamil Nadu were considered separate only by the Central government, and in reality, the two places were interlinked with each other. He added that supporting Puducherry falls under his responsibility. Vijay also pointed out that the Puducherry government, which CM Rangasamy heads, works differently compared to the DMK government in Tamil Nadu. Also, he mentioned that even political opponents provided security for his party's rally upon request.
Vijay said the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Stalin, could learn a thing or two from the Puducherry government in terms of administering the state. He said he did not expect him to do that either. He added that the public will give the DMK a suitable lesson in the upcoming state assembly elections next year.
Recalling the late former CM M.G. Ramachandran’s connection with Puducherry, Vijay asserted that the Union Territory should be accorded full statehood. He attacked the Central Government for not acting on 16 resolutions adopted over the years by the Puducherry Assembly demanding statehood.
