So, the South Coast Railway Zone , with HQ in Visakhapatnam, officially began functioning on June 1. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called it a meaningful milestone, and he also posted his thoughts on X .
Naidu said, the zone basically completes a long term demand, that was sitting there for decades , and nobody could actually get it moving. In his view, the launch is the same as turning an old wish into reality, the kind that a lot of people across the state had waited for years.
He further added that this new railway zone should enhance the transportation framework in North Andhra . With steadier railway management and more infrastructure development, the region may see better connections and more economic momentum.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the railway zone could open up fresh job avenues and nudge industrial growth. If transport gets easier, that may also make it simpler to bring investments and keep business activity moving across the area.
Naidu noted that the initiative may strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s role as a logistics and transport powerhouse. With improved rail links , it becomes easier to shift goods faster, which then supports the state’s wider development plans.
Finally, he expressed thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw , for backing the long waited railway zone , and for ensuring it gets implemented. He said this start is an important step in the state’s ongoing development journey , too.
