Telangana Unbeatable Vision For 2047

Many national and international economists have identified the potential of Telangana with regard to achieving big development targets. They identified the state as a model for the world in economic development and good governance. According to them, the development trajectory of Telangana provides an opportunity to attain targets that may appear ambitious. Chief Minister said that Telangana is unstoppable and unbeatable. People-participatory vision document can be translated into reality. Achieving one trillion-dollar economy by the next decade and three trillion-dollar economy by 2047 looks ambitious, yet it is attainable according to the approach of the government.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented the vision document on Tuesday night while concluding the two-day global summit, Telangana Rising-2047. The summit was held to chalk out the state's roadmap to a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047 and achieve improvement in living standards with balanced development in all regions of Telangana. The event was marked by a drone show.

The closing ceremony was attended by famous industrialist Anand Mahindra, former RBI Governor Duvvuri Subbarao, renowned economist Arvind Subramanian, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Sumanberry, Professor of University of California Muraleedharan, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, film actor Chiranjeevi and Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan joined online.

Economists and industry leaders alike praised the development journey of the Telangana government and the vision document. It was made clear that since the document was prepared with citizens’ participation, their welfare would be its main priority. Experts also marked this approach—putting people at the center of planning—as something not often seen either in India or globally. They suggested that development must spread across Telangana.

The Chief Minister asserted that his government will work towards eradicating poverty and inequality. Others present included CEO of Adobe Systems Shantanu Narayan, ministers and top professionals. Representatives of different companies met the Chief Minister and signed agreements on investment. Film personalities too joined in the deliberations on state’s progress.

Core, Pure, Rare: Strategy for a Three-Trillion-Dollar Economy

Telangana's Vision Document has set a long-term aspiration to become a trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047. The document embraces a three-pronged strategy with comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable development:

  • Core Urban Region (Core)
  • Peri-Urban Region (Pure)
  • Rural Agri Region (RARE)

The document was prepared by government officials and economists from the Indian Business School. Suggestions from more than four lakh citizens were collected to guide the plan.

It is a vision based on three zones for balanced development, attracting investment, and transparency in governance. Key Projects under the Vision: Bharat Future City, Musi River revival, dry port, greenfield highway to Bandar Port, regional ring roads, ring rail, and bullet train corridors.

The document also focuses on improved governance by digital initiatives, T-Fiber, and SPEED programs, besides establishing world-class education and research institutions. Special attention is paid to women, farmers, and youth in the document. Other priority areas are health, education, livelihood, sustainable welfare, equal opportunities, global investments in infrastructure, and creation of special development fund. Emphasis is placed on active citizen participation in governance. The 83-page charter places emphasis on welfare programs for women, farmers, youth, and children. Social development, health, education, skills, livelihood, and economic empowerment are identified as part of the primary responsibilities of the government. The report also analyzes environmental sustainability, river corridor development, and tourism initiatives.
