New Name Announcement
The Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, announced that the village and ward secretariats will henceforth be named “Swarna Gramam” (Golden Village). The announcement will be made either today or tomorrow, he said.
Attendance Concerns
- Department Secretary Katamaneni Bhaskar told the Chief Minister that people who come there have complained that the employees are not available. When the Chief Minister inquired if the employees are present, Bhaskar replied that the employees’ average attendance is 74 percent, while the remaining employees have not marked their attendance.
- The Chief Minister expressed his concern and directed his staff to track theemployees who are often failing to turn up to work. He stated that attendance registration is a requirement and ordered disciplinary measures in case this continued. He clarified that absence is authorized in case of emergency situations, but absence is Not Acceptable if it is often.
- When a collector pointed out that the village surveyors are there in the field because of resurvey, the Chief Minister said that field presence has been sufficient.
Being part of an awareness campaign
Katamaneni Bhaskar mentioned that a door-to-door campaign is being organized to spread awareness about the governance of WhatsApp. This is because no action has been taken by a total of “30,000 employees, including energy, panchayat, and revenue assistants working in the village secretariats.”
