Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to introduce a welfare calendar for implementing welfare schemes. It would clearly state which scheme will be implemented in which month. He said this system should start from the next financial year. He also instructed the officials to arrange financial resources in advance to support timely implementation.
The Chief Minister said the Super Six welfare schemes should achieve a public satisfaction level of over 90 percent. He shared these directions during a review meeting of welfare departments held as part of the Collectors’ Conference.
Chief Minister voiced concern over recent incidents in welfare hostels. In some hostels, students fell sick owing to poor maintenance of toilets and bathrooms, and because of consumption of contaminated food and water. He described these incidents as unacceptable. He sent a warning that if such incidents happen again, the responsible officials will be suspended and if required may be dismissed.
He ordered that in all welfare hostels, maintenance of toilets, bathrooms, and classrooms should be done on an outsourcing basis. He instructed district collectors and public representatives to stay overnight in hostels in order to review living conditions firsthand.
The Chief Minister opined that steps be initiated to adopt 5,000 welfare hostels under the P4 scheme. Facilities in these hostels should be improved. He ordered that mining seigniorage funds and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds should be utilised on a priority basis for the purpose.
He directed that a district-level officer should be appointed as in-charge for each district. The officer will monitor the hostel management and ensure that the directives are followed properly.
