India Defeats New Zealand By Eight Wickets In Third T20

India achieved an eight-wicket victory against New Zealand during their third T20 match. The team achieved their 154-run target by finishing their innings after 10 overs while only losing two wickets. India won the match to secure a 3–0 lead in the five-match series which still has two games remaining.

Fast and Aggressive Run Chase

  • India lost Sanju Samson on the first ball of the innings. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan continued to bat aggressively after the team suffered an initial loss. The two players scored 49 runs during their first three overs which put pressure on the New Zealand bowlers.
  • Ishan Kishan scored 28 runs off 13 balls before Ish Sodhi dismissed him. Abhishek Sharma kept the batting momentum. He reached his half-century in just 14 balls, scoring 68 not out from 20 deliveries. His innings consisted of seven fours and five sixes.
  • Abhishek was joined by Suryakumar Yadav who played an impressive innings. He scored 57 runs without losing his wicket from 26 balls that included six fours and three sixes. Abhishek and Suryakumar achieved an unbeaten 100-run partnership for their third wicket which took 40 balls to complete. India finished their batting after 10 overs.

New Zealand’s Batting Effort

  • New Zealand batted first after losing the toss and managed to score 153 runs while losing 9 wickets during their 20 overs. Glenn Phillips achieved the highest score with 48 runs from 40 balls. Mark Chapman contributed 32 runs, while Mitchell Santner added 27. The remaining players in the batting order were unable to establish effective partnerships.
  • Jasprit Bumrah led India’s bowling attack by taking three wickets at 17 runs and he received Player of the Match award. Ravi Bishnoi and Hardik Pandya each took two wickets while Harshit Rana achieved one wicket.

Series Status

The fourth T20 match will take place on Wednesday, January 28, in Visakhapatnam. India achieved their ninth consecutive T20 victory through this match result.
