The Indian cricket team will face New Zealand in their fourth T20 match which takes place in Visakhapatnam. The Indian cricket team has already won the first three matches and they have secured the series by leading 3-0. The significance of this series has increased because the T20 World Cup 2026 will take place soon. Ajinkya Rahane a senior player for the Indian cricket team has recommended that Varun Chakravarthy should participate in every match against New Zealand.
Rahane explained that T20 cricket requires bowlers to establish their bowling patterns. He said that team management decisions to bench their main bowler during World Cup preparation would lead to performance decline. Rahane said that team plans to rest Chakravarthy and test Ravi Bishnoi will create unknown effects on Chakravarthy's playing performance.
The ICC T20 rankings currently list Varun Chakravarthy as the number one player who has achieved 804 points. He has taken 36 wickets during his last 20 T20 matches with an average of 13.19. The T20 World Cup will start on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka and Chakravarthy will play a major role in the tournament.
The Indian cricket team has already won the T20 series against New Zealand with a 3-0 victory. The team will utilize the remaining matches to test different player combinations. Chakravarthy participated in the first two T20 matches but he did not play during the third match. Ravi Bishnoi filled in for him during that match.
