Andhra Pradesh Power Restoration Efforts Intensify After Storm Disruptions

Heavy rain and strong winds, kind of messed up electricity supply in several spots of Andhra Pradesh since last night. Power outages were reported in many areas across the combined Krishna, Prakasam, and Bapatla districts, with lines going down and repairs getting slow because of the weather, it looks like.

Energy Minister Reviews restoration work

Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar, reviewed the ongoing restoration effort and mentioned that the weather basically slowed down the repair work in some locations. He also told officials, to bring back electricity in all affected places by this afternoon.

Officials asked to keep a close watch

The Minister instructed officials to track restoration activities carefully, and to note the time needed for each task, without skipping checks. He added that authorities should send alert messages to the public so electrical accidents can be avoided during the repair process.

Residents advised to call helpline

People facing any electricity trouble were advised to use the toll free helpline number 1912 for help, support and complaints.

Minister mourns Home Guard death

Minister Ravikumar expressed deep grief over the death of a Home Guard in Vijayawada. The person reportedly died after a snapped power line fell and caused electrocution. The Minister assured the family of the Home Guard that the government would provide all possible assistance.

Power supply restored in most areas

Officials later informed the Minister that electricity supply has already been restored in most parts of the twin Godavari districts. Only one or two villages still remain without power, and the remaining restoration, is expected to be finished by this afternoon.
