Right now several districts in Telangana are dealing with really hard heatwave conditions. I mean, the kind where it feels like the sun is just not letting up. In response, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) put out weather alerts, to warn people about the increasing temperatures and the possible risks that come with it.
A Red Alert is out for these districts, Mahabubabad , Khammam , Suryapet , Nalgonda . As per the Meteorological Department, these places could see severe heatwave conditions during the day, like daytime temperatures staying dangerously high. Residents are asked to reduce time outdoors, drink enough water, and take the usual safeguards against heat related illnesses , which can sneak up even on healthy folks.
The department has also issued an Orange Alert for other areas of the state. Those include Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Bhadradri Kothagudem. An Orange Alert basically suggests that high temperatures may keep going and people should be cautious, especially vulnerable groups, like children, older adults and outdoor workers who are working in the open.
Even though many regions are under extreme heat , not everywhere will stay fully dry. Some districts could get rainfall. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said that conditions affected by cumulonimbus clouds may bring light to moderate rain in pockets of the erstwhile Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts. So, it could swing a bit, heat to a little respite, depending on the location.
The forecast further mentions thunderstorms, lightning , and strong gusty winds. Wind speeds might go up to around 40 to 50 kilometers per hour where these conditions are active. People should stay alert during thunderstorms and avoid open spaces if lightning starts popping up, because that’s when it becomes really risky.
Telangana is currently witnessing a mix of extreme heat and localized storm activity. While heatwave conditions are expected to continue in several districts, some areas may receive temporary relief through rainfall and strong winds. Authorities are monitoring the situation and issuing alerts to help residents stay informed and prepared.
