AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's announcement of the future positioning of the state in the global clean energy sector sounds quite sensational. He quickly put me in mind of the energy policy launched in October 2024 which, through various measures, aimed at establishing the states green hydrogen status in India.
Kakinada's Green Ammonia Project
- Additionally, the Chief Minister pointed out to the initiation of the AM Green's Kakinada 1.5 MTPA green ammonia plant's construction. According to him, this initiative will bring Andhra Pradesh one step closer to becoming a net unit of green energy.
- And the project is estimated at $10 billion, thus comprising 7.5 gigawatts of solar and wind power capacity. Moreover, a pumped storage hydroelectric power plant is being planned, and its capacity is set to 1 gigawatt as well. All these developments are indicative of the state's robust clean energy environment.
Exports and Global Impact
- Kakinada's green ammonia will be sent to Germany, and others will also get a share of the international market. The CM's words indicate that this is a landmark project, no less than first such globally.
- Moreover, upon X, Chandrababu Naidu said that he and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan joined the equipment installation ceremony for this momentous project.
- This project not only emphasizes Andhra Pradesh's resolve towards clean energy but also helps in the positioning of the state as a major player in the global green energy market.
