Efforts To Secure Bharat Ratna For NTR

The Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that he will apply for the Bharat Ratna for Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), the founder of the TDP (Telugu Desam Party). Moreover, the award would be a token of appreciation for the Telugu people and a satisfaction of the demand that has existed for a long time.

NTR’s Death Anniversary Tributes

Chandrababu Naidu, on Sunday, paid tribute to the late NTR by laying a wreath on his statue at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri on the occasion of NTR’s death anniversary. He also opened a sizable blood donation camp held by the NTR Trust and awarded certificates to blood donors. Later on, he spoke to the party workers and the public.

NTR’s Contributions to Governance and Welfare

  • According to Naidu, the NTR was terms as the best politician by the people and he was doing great service to the Telugu community. He said NTR opened the gates of good governance and introduced large-scale welfare programs like supplying rice at Rs. 2 per kg to provide food security and starting the free meal service at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams that still feeds about 1 lakh people a day.
  • In addition, he pointed out that NTR not only gave the Telugu people a voice in the national politics but also opened up the political arena for the poor, the weak, and the educated quarters of the society. The government has decided to set up Anna Canteens in every constituency inspired by NTR to tackle poverty and hunger issues.
  • A film was shown about the conditions prior to TDP’s establishment, NTR’s role in the party, and its coming to power. Later, Chandrababu Naidu collected petitions from the people.

Leaders Recall NTR’s Legacy
