- The largest green hydrogen-based green ammonia project in the state has been announced by the government of the state at Kakinada. The project will be developed by AM Green, a company that is a part of the Greenko Group. The company has plans to sell green ammonia to Germany, Japan, and Singapore.
- AM Green is going to pay around Rs. 18,000 crore (US$2 billion) for the building of the project. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan will be the ones to perform the ceremony for the laying of the foundation on Saturday.
Impact on Employment and Economy
- During the construction phase, it is estimated that the project will provide jobs for about 8,000 workers. Once the project is completed, it will provide more jobs in the areas of logistics, storage, and port-related services. The firm said that these activities would be a source of continuous employment for the people of the area.
- Uniper, a company from Germany, will receive the green ammonia produced at the plant. The project is being built with the involvement of international partners, such as Petronas from Malaysia, GIC from Singapore, and ADIA from the United Arab Emirates.
The Biggest Green Ammonia Production Plant in India
- The Kakinada green ammonia plant will be capable of producing 1.5 million tonnes of green ammonia every year. Additionally, it will feature a 1,950 MW electrolyzer capacity. According to the government, it will be the largest green ammonia plant in India.
- AM Green is targeting a production capacity of 0.5 million metric tonnes per annum by 2028. In 2030, this will be increased to 1.0 million metric tonnes per annum. The project site will be spread over 495 acres.
