The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata as 'satisfactory'. The stadium will host matches during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which starts on February 7th. The tournament will take place in India and Sri Lanka.
Eden Gardens will host five group stage matches. The venue will host one of the three opening matches that mark the beginning of the tournament. Pakistan will play its matches in Sri Lanka. The Super 8 and semi-final matches will take place at Eden Gardens depending on the team results.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that its team would not travel to India due to security concerns. The original schedule called for Bangladesh to play three Kolkata matches. If confirmed by the ICC, Scotland may replace Bangladesh and play three group stage matches at Eden Gardens. The ICC is expected to provide final confirmation soon.
