The ex-Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has addressed the discussion of Virat Kohli’s recent batting displays. He expressed his opinions on his YouTube channel after India’s encounter with New Zealand in Vadodara on Sunday.
Virat Kohli Continues Strong Form
- Kohli was instrumental in India’s winning over New Zealand. His batting gave India 93 runs in 91 balls and he just fell short of a century. His fifty plus runs were the seventh in a row. The series has been opened by this victory for India, taking it to 1–0.
- Ashwin commented that Kohli's batting style has not changed. He characterized Kohli as being entirely concentrated on batting and having a good time. In Ashwin’s opinion, Kohli still possesses the same mentality that he had when he was a young player. However, Ashwin said that his experience has only fortified his game.
Ashwin on Shreyas Iyer’s Comeback
- Ashwin was also talking about the vice-captain Shreyas Iyer. He called Iyer a dependable batsman in One Day Internationals. Ashwin mentioned that Iyer’s dismissal in the match was not fortunate and it was not something that usually occurs during his innings.
- He indicated that it was a long injury break for Iyer and this match was his comeback. Ashwin also commended the NZ bowler Jamieson by stating that he produced an excellent delivery to dismiss Iyer.
- Shreyas Iyer, who has been treating his spleen injury, made 49 runs off 47 balls. In the course of innings, he also got to be part of a significant partnership with Virat Kohli.
