Vaibhav Suryavanshi Features Among Fastest HalfCentury Scorers

The young Indian cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi keeps on making remarkable records in youth One-Day Internationals.  He is now listed among the six persons who have made the top 15 fastest half-centuries in youth ODI history. The recent one was in the second match of the South African youth series of three ODIs played in Benoni.

Record-Breaking Knock Against South Africa

In the second ODI, Vaibhav scored a half-century in just 19 balls. He ended the innings with 68 runs from 24 balls. His innings comprised one four and ten sixes. Out of the total, 60 runs were scored just from the sixes. This feat marks the fourth fastest half-century in youth ODI cricket.

Fastest Half-Centuries in Youth ODIs

The record for the fastest half-century goes to South Africa’s Steve Stolk. He scored 50 runs in just 13 balls against the Scotland Under-19 team on January 27, 2024.
 Rishabh Pant takes the second spot with his scoring of 52 runs in 18 balls against Nepal Under-19 on February 1, 2016.
The third position is occupied by Gazmatullah Omarzai of Afghanistan, who managed to get 54 runs in 19 balls against New Zealand Under-19 on January 25, 2018.

Consistency in Fast Scoring

Vaibhav Suryavanshi started with a 20-ball half-century, then had a 24-ball double, later had a 25-ball and a 30-ball and now has achieved a 19-ball one against South Africa. The latter has marked his sixth entry in the list of fastest half-centuries in youth ODI cricket.
